There is no end in sight for the wave of recognition which Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development is getting from opinion leaders and economic stakeholders for his role in the current transformation being witnessed in the Nigerian agricultural sector.

The latest recognition comes from the Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce (NBCC) which adjudged Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, CON the “Minister of the Year” for the “passionate manner in which he has spearheaded major reforms aimed at transforming the Nigeria agricultural sector. The recognition was accorded Adesina at the Chamber’s Annual Presidential Dinner and Awards ceremony chaired by Dr. Christopher Kolade, CON the Pro-Chancellor of the Pan Atlantic University.

Dr Adesina, who was represented at the occasion by Mr. Lekan Quadri, Zonal ATA Director of the Ministry, attributed the progress made under Nigeria’s agricultural transformation agenda to the unparalleled support which the President, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has made available.

“There is no way we could have achieved this much without strong Presidential backing” addition stated, while thanking the NBCC Executive for considering him worthy of the honor. Other key awardees include Mrs. Bola Adesola, Managing Director of Standard Chartered Bank of Nigeria who bagged the CEO of the year, the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola who was adjudged Governor of the year and the Jigawa and Ogun State Governors who both shared the “Good Governance Award”.

It will be recalled that Dr. Adesina was recently conferred with the award of “Transformer of Nigerian Agriculture” at the Nigeria Agriculture Awards (NAA).
